Recycling
We encourage the recycling of garden waste and to this end promote composting.
The commercial cost of the disposal of green waste continues to escalate. Obviously we do not want to pass on this cost and as we cannot afford to absorb it, we are asking all our customers to use a compost, use the household waste recycling centre or use their council collection service. Garden waste collected is used for composting purposes and not disposed of directly at the local landfill site.
To reflect the importance of conserving natural resources starting in the home, Hampshire County Council often sell reduced-price composters to residents. Contact Fareham Borough Council, who manage the scheme.
The recommended choices for disposal are:
The use of a compost.

Examples of the Council Collection Service
Fareham Borough Council
Has a garden waste collection service where householders are issued with a re-usable garden waste sack, which is emptied fortnightly from the kerbside. Either e-mail waste@fareham.gov.uk or telephone 01329 236100.
Gosport Council
Can collect and dispose of green garden waste by their chargeable kerbside garden waste collection. Special large, strong green plastic sacks identified with the Council logo can be purchased from main reception at the Town Hall.
